Update for supporters

The Oval in London will be the stage for Pakistan’s first 2013 Champions Trophy game, against West Indies

Stani Army fans would have noticed the lack of activity on the website over the last couple of months. Just to let everyone know, we’re back now after our short break. Whilst most of the members were away attending the World Cup in Sri Lanka, I had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful lands of Kashmir and Pakistan.

Yet worry not, as the whole team is back now and making plans for the next international tournament which is the Champions Trophy in England and Wales starting June next year. We will be posting updates on our plans for the tournament periodically.

Fans will also be pleased to know that photos of Mr Pakistan and Stani Army at the World Cup in Sri Lanka will be posted in due course

Hard at work, the boys smile for the camera at a damp Manchester Mela

The wet weather at the Manchester Mela couldn’t dampen our spirits in our efforts to raise money for the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA) over the weekend of the 25th and 26th of August at Platt Fields Park. Despite the conditions, the locals turned out and generously donated towards this most noble of causes. We will be at the Birmingham Mela on Sunday the 2nd of September 2012. If you’re in the area, please do pop down to our stall for a friendly chat. Below is a selection of photos from the Manchester Mela for our fans to enjoy:

The Oval in London will be the stage for Pakistan’s first game, against the West Indies

The 2013 Champions Trophy fixtures have been released and we urge our fans to begin to make plans for next year’s tournament which is due to be held in England in June. As with the World up in Sri Lanka this year, Stani Army have big things planned for the Champions Trophy and fans are encouraged to keep abreast of developments through www.staniarmy.com. The Champions Trophy will be played at just the three venues of the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff, the Kia Oval in London and Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Nevertheless, fans are encouraged to sign up to the mailing lists of the Counties of each of the venues in order to receive the latest information. You can sign up to Surrey CCC’s (The Oval) newsletter from the homepage, top left here. Glamorgan’s CCC’s (SWALEC) here, and Warwickshire CCC’s (Edgbaston) on their homepage here (scroll down).

Updates will be posted on www.staniarmy.com and we advise fans to register with us in order to be able to comment on the site so that they are able to discuss plans and raise any concerns they may have, as we are always ready and willing to help. This will be a marquee tournament for Stani Army, and Pakistan fans are encouraged to join us to create a memorable atmosphere in supporting our team together.

Generous donor and avid cricket fan Navid bhai (centre) with us at the Barking Mela

Stani Army were proud to be in attendance at two Melas recently, raising funds for the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA). The first Mela was at Upton Court Park in Slough and the second at Barking Park in Barking, London. Thank you to everyone who attended and donated towards this worthy cause, and we hope you enjoyed meeting us and Stani Army’s very own Mr Pakistan.

The crew with the great man Imran Khan himself, holding a cheque for the funds raised last year

With last year’s effort bringing in over three thousand pound to the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal, we will inshaAllah with your help, try and surpass that total this year. You can donate in person if you are attending any of the remaining Melas we will be at in the next few months. Alternatively, you can do so via Mr Pakistan’s Just Giving page, via the IKCA website, or via free phone on 0500 786 101. To find out more about where your donations will be going and the tireless work of the IKCA and everyone at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, please visit here.

If you missed us at the Slough and Barking Melas, worry not. We will be in attendance at a Mela in Manchester on the 14th and 15th of July, at the O2 London Mela at Gunnersbury Park on the 19th of August (provided Eid does not fall on this date), and finally at a Mela in Birmingham in the first week of September (date to be confirmed). Do try to attend and visit our charity stall for a friendly chat and a photo if you so wish.

UPDATE (10th July): Due to adverse weather conditions and a waterlogged park, the Manchester Mela has been postponed until the weekend of the 25th and 26th of August.
