Imran Khan feels he shouldn't. I guess it was a personal choice for Wasim, but he has gone against many people's will.

We can't expect from Individuals to go against their personal interests to prove a point to another nation and that too when the government does not have any clear and stated policy about relations with India. The governement could have banned Indian imports or their movies in Pakistan at that time or they could have issued travel restrictions to India but they didn't, that shows our government was not interested in escalating tension between the two countries. If the government is not interested how can we expect an individual to take all the burden on himself and go against his personal interest.

I was talking about Akram's IPL coaching contract being short. It is short compared to having a contract with a board, coaching for a year or two.

Firstly, the IPL is short? No way man. It drags on, the duration is so ongoing. It takes up a month with 58 games or something like that. That’s why players aren't able to be available for the whole season. If it was shorter they could.

I wonder if not playing in the IPL is an advantage for Pakistan? I guess they would be more energised i.e. less worn out but it might take time to adapt to the shortened format, they will be lacking match practise. The PCB has disallowed the Pakistan player to participate in the Bangladesh version due to the risk on staining injury. In a way this is a logical move, but I’m sure they would have benefited from match practise. Afterall, Pakistan’s first game in the WC is against Bangla!! If there is one upset that is likely it will be this one on the 1st of May.

In regards to Wasim. I don’t have a problem other coaches helping other teams, it promotes our name in a way. However, the Pakistan players were rejected from participating and he should have refused to take up the job on this basis.

<strong>Maz</strong>
I've seen him do bits and bobs here and there but I think he has other commitments so doesn't tie himself down to any long contracts. The IPL is very short so he can probably manage that. Also, the work he does with our lot, he probably does for free, just for the love of his nation.

I do share your frustration to some extent though. I think what you are really saying is, when we have such past greats, why are they not more permanently involved in our cricket at every level. And I agree, we need to sort our entire structure out and make use of our greats instead of letting them look for work elsewhere. The likes of Saqlain, Akram, and Mushy should not need to go elsewhere.

Some good points there.

But why does Wasim never help Pakistan cricket ? Thats my problem with him. As a patriot he should. He just cares about money and doesn't consider the bigger picture.

<strong>Maz/Wasim</strong>
There was definitely something going on and all the franchises were quite clearly in cahoots.

I think had Wasim refused to coach purely on the basis that no Pakistan players were selected, would have been wrong. What the IPL did was dishonourable and sly. There are two ways we could respond to them. The first is to be like them and the second is to be an example and show some class. I think Akram has done this. Whether the IPL/BCCI will recognise this, or whether it will make a difference to their cold hearts, I’m not sure, but this shouldn’t prevent us from doing the right thing. We shouldn’t lower ourselves to their level but demonstrate to the world that we’re better than those that do wrong to us.

I think you are being negative here.

What makes him a traitor? Just because Afridi & co didn't recieved a bid doesn't mean that he should have refused to work in India.

I don't see you condoning Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam,in fact you yourself are a huge fan of Indian movies so what difference does it makes if Wasim is working with KKR and making some money in the process. We are not at war with India.

I have just seen the auction footage.

When Shahid Afridi's name was read out, there was pin drop silence and deep reluctance amongst the team owners.

There was something fishy behind this.

Wasim Akram is a traitor for being bowling coach of KKR considering the situation between Pak and Ind.

<strong>Maz</strong>
Find me a Bollywood film that doesn't fill our young with unrealistic hopes and cause them to have raised expectations of their future spouses and I will watch it. As I suggested, it is a very complex issue and the few years I have on you has allowed me to see this. One day in the future, I hope you will agree with me. You will never get me watching a Bollywood film let alone make me a fan of them :)....I'm pretty stubborn.

You know it would have been interesting to see Shoaib captain in Tests and ODIs again but he'll only get this t20 game by the looks of it.
