Typical Pakistan start. Lots of extras, free hits and boundaries. Kallis and Smith have not played risky yet have still scored briskly.
Not too impressive in the outfield either.

Hopefully Afridi and Ajmal can change something.
Akmal has started poor.

Looks like Ajmal will have a big tournament. He’s got Kallis and has brought down the run rate together with Afridi.

Two quick wickets have pegged SA back. Pak will still do well to restrict them below 180.

Afridi does get Gibbs but there’s some big hitting from the South Africans.
June 1st, 2009 at 6:54 pm
Three 6s in a row off Gul, 21 off the over. Could prove to be crucial in the end. Still giving extras!!!

187 to win. Challenging target. Looks a good pitch so with wickets in hand a decent start, should be a interesting chase.

Not a good start. Butt goes early and pressure is on. Not a Twenty20 player says Stani Army.
Need a decent partnership to get back on track

Two quick wickets. Misbah goes for 0 in a chaotic run out. With more than 10. An over needed, it’s Afridi or nothing.
June 1st, 2009 at 8:17 pm
A succession of wickets including that of Afridi’s as Pakistan collapse. 3 runs. Required for every 1 ball remaining.
June 1st, 2009 at 8:32 pm
Pathetic batting display!
Butt or Ahmed need to go and Alam needs to come in.
Tanvir or Iftikhar need to go and Aamer needs to come in.
June 1st, 2009 at 8:36 pm
That’s that then! All out for 127 with 2 balls remaining.
June 1st, 2009 at 8:43 pm
Agree Q. These are the games to try them out though. What are the bloody selectors/captain doing?
June 1st, 2009 at 9:00 pm
I don’t get it man.. if they’re not gonna give these youngsters practice now, when r they going to do it.. pathetic.
June 1st, 2009 at 11:11 pm
It’s their thinking Q. They’re just not professional enough to plan like this….to strategise. I would love to compare a Pakistan team pre-match opposition analysis with Australias for example. Aus probably have detailed notes and video on each players strengths and weaknesses where as our lot probably don’t even remember the names of the opposition.

Younis Khan said “we need a guy like Salman Butt because he can bat till end.” Lol the guy got out on the third ball.
June 2nd, 2009 at 8:33 am
They’re too rigid to strategize.. they need to be more flexible.
Misbah was when he captained against Aus in Dubai..
Younis used to be when he used to fill in for Inzi.. now these guys just get too scared to take risks..
